Have you heard of Kinstone? It’s a hard place to explain. Located above the Mississippi River, about an hour from my farm, Kinstone is a sacred site with a chapel, giant stone henge-like rock monuments and powerful energy.

This summer an advanced level herbalism student from Utah spent one month working on my farm learning the practical ins-and-outs of growing the plants she uses in her practice. We took a couple trips down to Kinstone.

One summer evening as the full moon was rising we harvested perfectly ripe echinacea flowers from the native prairie surrounding. Then, in the center of the stone monument we prepared a tincture of the flowers. Radical hippy magic.

Energetically speaking, it might be impossible to create more potent Echinacea medicine. From a purely sciencey chemical perspective this is superb quality medicine too.

Echinacea is an immune stimulant that helps the body ward off sickness. It is a very useful natural medicine every flu season. Not to be taken on a regular basis but only to boost the immune system after exposure to pathogens or at the first signs of sickness. A small dose of tincture in water should be taken every hour or two for a few days.
